Multiple OS
How many server Operating Systems can you pick from?
An Operating System is the basic software that manages a PC. It takes care of how your hardware functions, the communication with peripherals like a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between your applications, along with the prioritization of apps if multiple ones run simultaneously. Each and every program that's installed on a laptop or a desktop works by sending requests to the OS for various services via an application program interface (API). The contact with the OS can be done through a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the web hosting field, the Operating System is what controls a web hosting server and all the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but also any other application such as a VOIP or a game server. When there are virtual machines created, they employ a guest OS which is run on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS
In case you choose one of our
virtual private server solutions, you'll have three different Operating Systems to choose from - CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu. They are all Linux releases and we offer them rather than offering just a single OS, because the applications that you might want to run on the server could have specific requirements about the software environment. Each of these three has certain advantages regarding the available packages that you can afterwards install, but what is common between them is that they're very secure and dependable and have vast communities that support them. The internet hosting Control Panel options for the VPS accounts depend on your OS choice, so as to give you more flexibility. If you order the virtual server with one OS and you need a different one later, our technical support team can easily reinstall the VPS with the new one in a couple of minutes. We also offer the option to maintain the Operating System on your server up-to-date on a weekly basis.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting
We offer three Operating Systems with our
dedicated server plans - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they're free and they won't increase the low price of your new server, but also because they are outstandingly stable and secure. Each one of them is supported by a big community of developers, so you will be able to choose from thousands of software packages that you can install on your server if the app that you would like to use has certain requirements. The Operating System will also determine what web hosting Control Panel you can use since the Control Panels that we offer run on particular OSs only and because we would like to provide you with as much versatility as possible, we offer multiple OSs and multiple Control Panels. In case you get a server with a given Operating System, we will change it upon request in case it turns out that you'll need another one. We will also keep the OS updated weekly as part of the additional Managed Services upgrade.
