IP Blocking
What's IP blocking and what does it mean for site visitors? In which cases is it helpful?
One of the most productive approaches to restrict the access to your website is to block the IP addresses of those that should not be able to open it. There are various good reasons to do this. As an illustration, you may want a specific individual not to be able to see your website, or you could limit the access for a whole country. You could also block IP addresses in case you notice that there are lots of web browser requests from them, if a large number of spam comments are left on your sites or if a script login page has been loaded a lot of times. In each of these cases, the traffic is almost certainly fake and has been produced by an automatic bot, so you may safely block any shady IP address, in order to be on the safe side. This way, you'll also stay away from the chance of your server getting overloaded by a lot of fake requests.

IP Blocking in Shared Hosting
If you buy a
shared package from us, you will be able to see in depth traffic stats for all your Internet sites and if you notice that a lot of the visits to any of them are not authentic, you can block the IP addresses that have produced the most traffic by using our IP Blocking tool. The interface is very simple - select the needed domain or subdomain from a drop-down list, then type the IP address that you'd like to block and save the change. All of the addresses that you have blacklisted will show up inside the same section of the CP, so you're able to always remove any one of them and enable it to access your website again. You'll be able to block entire IP ranges using the tool as well - you just need to leave one or two octets from the address blank. For example, entering 1.2.3. will block all 254 IPs from 1.2.3.1 to 1.2.3.255.

If you wish to block a whole range, a C-class network for instance, you just have to input the first three octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That will block all 254 addresses, so you'll not have to type them manually. Because all the IPs you add in this section shall be listed, you can easily unblock any one of them by clicking the Delete button relevant to the given IP.
